The 100-gallon Armagnac oak barrels are crafted from century-old white oak trees sourced from the forests of Monlezun and Frêche, renowned for their exceptional brandy. After distillation in 1972, the eau-de-vie was matured in these traditional casks, where natural evaporation, known as “la part des anges,” allowed a gradual reduction through the constant exchange between the spirit, the oak fibres and the surrounding air.
On the nose, this 1972 vintage reveals a full and refined aroma with hints of vanilla and delicate floral notes. The bouquet is elegant and harmonious, shaped by long maturation in oak.
On the palate, the extended ageing is clearly present, with firm tannins and rich, rounded wood tones. Notes of ripe plums, bay leaf and liquorice bring depth and complexity to the flavour profile.
The finish is full and lingering, leaving a warm and lasting impression of its mature character and balanced structure.
