Berry Bros. & Rudd Ledaig 2009 is a bold peated single malt from the Tobermory Distillery on the rugged Isle of Mull, bottled by Berry Bros & Rudd as a single cask expression.
Distilled in 2009, the whisky matured in hogshead cask No. 700324, where it developed Ledaig’s distinctive maritime peat character. Bottled at natural cask strength of 58.1% ABV, the whisky is non chill filtered and presented in natural colour. This limited single cask release captures the powerful coastal style that defines Ledaig whisky.
Nose
A powerful and maritime nose opens with peat smoke and sea breeze, followed by bright citrus zest and hints of green apple. Underneath, subtle notes of malt sweetness and gentle spice begin to appear.
Palate
The palate is bold and full of character, with waves of oily peat smoke balanced by lemon, salted caramel and toasted malt. Hints of pepper and warming spices add depth, while a touch of sweetness keeps the whisky well balanced.
Finish
Long and warming, with lingering coastal smoke, cracked black pepper and a subtle mineral salinity that reflects its island origin.
