Every now and then, Berry Bros & Rudd come across a cask of whisky whose provenance we cannot reveal for various reasons, and while we would normally try to avoid this scenario, some casks are simply too good to pass up.
The nose bursts with cherry compote, raisins, and dark honey, supported by brown sugar and fig syrup. The Marsala cask influence lends a rich depth of baked fruit, warm spices, and a hint of candied orange peel. The palate is full and luxurious, with an intense, almost syrupy sweetness of dates and stewed fruit. A touch of water softens the edges, revealing creamy vanilla and a velvety texture. The finish leaves echoes of spiced syrup and dried fruit on the tongue. A powerful, flavorful drink, best enjoyed with a splash of water.
