In 1836, Texas declared its independence from Mexico. To reduce risks of retaliation, the new republic immediately sought diplomatic recognition from other countries. They received these from the Netherlands, Belgium and France, among others. Other important support came from the United Kingdom, where Texas soon opened a kind of embassy.
This Texas Legation was located in London, on the top floors of number 3 St. James Street: the centuries-old building that has housed Berry Bros & Rudd since 1698. The Texas Legation closed in 1845, when Texas became the 28th state of the United States.
The BB&R Texas Legation is a limited batch of Bourbon, specially made in memory of that special historical bond between Texas and London. The whiskey is made by the artisanal, highly renowned distillery Ironroot Republic, which is of course located in the former republic of Texas.
