The pear is said to originate from Central Asia, like many fruits. Its cultivation would have started in China more than 4000 years before our era. But it is necessary to wait until the 18th century to see the development of the sweet varieties at the origin of our current pears. Today, the most cultivated variety in the world is the William pear, named after the English gardener who made it famous. Its flesh is fine, juicy, sweet and very fragrant. Pears are eaten both raw and in desserts, but also in liqueurs or eau-de-vie.
Crystal clear in appearance, the scent opens with classic eau-de-vie notes, highlighting the fresh skin of the pear before evolving into more juicy, fruit-forward aromas. On the palate, ripe pear flavours dominate, balancing the sweetness of the flesh with a subtle bitterness from the peel. The profile is bold and powerful, yet well balanced and precise.
